The legitimacy of the controversial Dollaro Poker’s traffic figures, a site frequented mostly by Italians, has been called into question after it suddenly rose to the top 10 networks on PokerScout.
On Monday, PokerScout reported that it had temporarily suspended tracking Dollaro Poker after it could not verify the network’s rapid rise to the ninth largest. The statistic was based on “self-reported” data and PokerScout wanted to resolve questions about the traffic.
By Thursday, Dollaro was back on the PokerScout rankings, listed in the 21st slot, with a 24-hour peak of 1,070 cash players and a 7-day average of 550.
Several players have complained about Dollar Poker cashouts on poker forums, but that may stem from its “agents,” essentially individual affiliates who facilitate a player’s deposits and withdrawals for the site.
In response to questions about how the site operates, 2+2 posters explained that Italians often play online in clubs or Internet cafes.
They can make deposits through an agent without registering and are often given auto-generated temporary screen names.
“If you win, you go to the agent and he pays you in cash,” gargamel_fk posted on 2+2. “If they were solid they could be like the biggest site in the world cause the core idea with direct marketing for fish and making it incredibly easy for them to deposit and play is just awesome.”
Club owners are rumored to work with the site to receive upwards of 50 percent revenue share, gargamel_fk continued.
Some reviews on PokerScout have called it a site with “unplayable software” and that agents “won’t let you cash out.”
